Encompass Health will build a 50-bed freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Post Falls, Idaho, set to open in 2028 to serve stroke, neurological, orthopedic and other rehab patients. The facility, featuring private rooms, advanced therapy gym and an in-house dialysis suite, marks the company's second Idaho location.

1. Project Overview

Encompass Health plans to build a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Post Falls, Idaho, targeting patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions. This marks the company’s second rehab facility in Idaho, extending its national network to 176 hospitals across 39 states and Puerto Rico.

2. Facility Features

The hospital will include private patient rooms, a large therapy gym equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, a pharmacy, dining room and an outdoor therapy courtyard. Care will be delivered by specialized nurses, therapists and physicians providing 24-hour nursing and comprehensive physical, occupational and speech therapy services.

3. Strategic Growth Implications

Kootenai County is among the fastest-growing regions in the U.S. and currently underserved in inpatient rehabilitation. Establishing a facility in Post Falls is expected to capture referral volumes from Coeur d’Alene and surrounding markets, supporting Encompass Health’s long-term growth strategy and market share expansion.

4. Timeline and Location

Groundbreaking is planned in coming months, with the hospital expected to open in 2028. The Post Falls site, located northeast of Coeur d’Alene, will expand access to high-quality rehabilitative care for residents across northern Idaho.
