Enphase Energy Expands 97.5% Efficient GaN Microinverters with US Tax Credit Compliance
Enphase Energy expanded US shipments of IQ9N-3P and IQ8P-3P commercial microinverters, including its first GaN-powered, 97.5% CEC-efficient IQ9N-3P supporting 600W panels. DOM-suffix units from US plants qualify for domestic content bonus tax credits and Buy America Act compliance, unlocking federal and repowering project use.
1. Expanded Commercial Microinverter Shipments and Specifications
Enphase has increased shipments of its IQ9N-3P and IQ8P-3P commercial microinverters from US facilities. The IQ9N-3P, Enphase’s first GaN-powered microinverter, delivers 97.5% CEC weighted efficiency on three-phase 480Y/277 V grids and supports up to 600 W panels, while both models scale from under 100 kW to several hundred kW installations.
2. Domestic Manufacturing and Tax Credit Eligibility
Models with the DOM suffix are produced in US plants to meet Buy America Act and Build America, Buy America Act requirements, qualifying eligible solar projects for domestic content bonus tax credits. This compliance unlocks opportunities for federal infrastructure and repowering initiatives that require American-made components.
3. Installer Adoption in Key Projects
Installers such as SunFlower LLC and Wulfekuhle Electric have deployed these microinverters across commercial and industrial projects, including a nearly 900 kW installation in Iowa and winter installations in New England. Furman University’s 988 kW ground-mount repowering project is rolling out in phases to modernize legacy systems without disturbing existing arrays.
4. Benefits Over Traditional String Inverters and Market Impact
Panel-level AC architecture eliminates high-voltage DC runs and single points of failure, enhancing uptime and simplifying maintenance. Enphase Power Control software offers rapid shutdown and export-limited operation without external hardware, making the solution more reliable and scalable for asset owners and commercial installers.
