1. Meta Agreement Delivers $2.65 Billion in Benefits
Entergy Louisiana finalized a 20-year commitment from Meta that covers full infrastructure costs for a hyperscale data center and yields $2 billion in new customer savings. Combined with a prior $650 million arrangement, total customer benefits reach $2.65 billion over two decades.
2. Targeted Community and Efficiency Investments
Under this pact, Meta will contribute $120 million to Entergy's Power to Care program and $140 million toward energy efficiency for vulnerable customers. It will also back up to 2,500 megawatts of solar capacity and support incremental carbon-free nuclear solutions.
3. Major Infrastructure Buildout Planned
Meta-funded projects include seven natural gas combined-cycle plants totaling over 5,200 megawatts, approximately 240 miles of 500 kV transmission lines and battery storage at three sites. Entergy plans nuclear uprates and a renewable energy MOU to modernize the grid.
4. Economic Growth and Reliability Enhancements
The project is expected to generate thousands of construction and permanent jobs through 2031, boost tax revenues for schools and public safety, and improve system reliability statewide. It is the first initiative under the Public Service Commission’s Lightning Amendment framework.
