Eos Energy secures Frontier Power USA’s 2GWh order for 100MW/400MWh Texas BESS
BESS•Eos Energy received its first purchase order under a 2GWh capacity reservation from Frontier Power USA for the 100MW/400MWh Redbird BESS project in Texas. It satisfies almost half of its 1GWh Bridgelink supply agreement and expands its US pipeline to 12GWh across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM and MISO markets.
1. First Purchase Order Under 2GWh Reservation
Eos Energy booked its inaugural purchase order from Frontier Power USA as part of a previously arranged 2GWh capacity reservation. The order will deploy Z3 zinc-based cells in the 100MW/400MWh Redbird battery energy storage system in Texas.
2. Project Development and Equity Funding
The Redbird project, developed with Bimergen Energy, was acquired by Frontier Power USA and its affiliates, who will provide full equity financing. Bimergen retains a minority economic stake and will collaborate on bringing the system into commercial operation.
3. Impact on Supply Agreements and Pipeline
This initial order covers nearly half of Eos’s 1GWh master supply agreement with Bridgelink and counts toward the 2GWh reservation with Frontier Power USA. Eos’s broader development pipeline now totals 12GWh across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM and MISO regions.
4. Z3 Technology and Market Demand
Eos’s Z3 technology offers four-hour duration, long-duration storage designed for grid reliability, energy shifting and ancillary services. Growing demand for multi-hour systems in ERCOT underscores the strategic fit of Z3 deployments.
