EQT reportedly in advanced talks to buy testing firm Qiagen
QGEN•EQT is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Qiagen, with a binding offer of more than $50 per share. KKR has also reportedly made a bid, and Qiagen’s board is meeting this week to consider a potential deal.
1. Takeover discussions
Qiagen is in advanced talks to be acquired by Swedish buyout firm EQT, a report said, citing people familiar with the matter. The report said Qiagen’s board is meeting this week to decide on a potential deal, but discussions may not lead to a sale to EQT or another buyer.
2. Bids and background
EQT has submitted a binding offer of more than $50 per share, while U.S. private equity firm KKR has also made a bid, the report said. Qiagen said in January it was evaluating strategic options amid renewed takeover interest. KKR declined to comment, EQT did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and Qiagen said it does not comment on “market rumors or speculation.”
