Equifax analysis found average non-deferred student loan payments rose to $310 from $288 in January 2020, a 7.6% increase over 76 months. Payment growth was 6.9% over the past 16 months, compared with cumulative inflation of 4.7%. Equifax said 15%–17% of consumers hold student debt and that 90-plus-day delinquencies improved in recent months after dollars past due reached an all-time high in May last year.
