Equinor Acquires DNO Stakes in Four Discoveries and Sjørøver Licence
Equinor has agreed a non-cash swap with DNO to acquire stakes in four Norwegian Continental Shelf discoveries—Røver, Mistral, Tyrihans East and Bergknapp—plus the Sjørøver exploration licence in exchange for DNO purchasing 19% of Atlantis and 10% of Afrodite. Aquatic Capital Management boosted its Equinor holdings by 31.6% to 270,630 shares.
1. Asset Swap Details
Equinor will receive DNO’s interests in four discoveries—Røver, Mistral, Tyrihans East and Bergknapp—and the Sjørøver exploration licence through a non-cash exchange. In return, Equinor is transferring its 19% stake in the Atlantis discovery and 10% stake in Afrodite to DNO. The deal remains subject to standard government approvals.
2. Portfolio Impact
The acquired assets are non-core for DNO and face longer appraisal schedules, expanding Equinor’s exploration footprint on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Equinor will operate all transferred discoveries, enhancing its long-term resource base despite later development timelines.
3. Institutional Buying
Aquatic Capital Management increased its Equinor position by 31.6%, adding 65,002 shares to reach a total holding of 270,630 shares. This purchase reflects growing institutional confidence in Equinor’s strategic portfolio adjustments and future production potential.
