Equinor, partners strike gas at Gullfaks South in North Sea
EQNR•Equinor and its partners reported a gas discovery at Gullfaks South, with estimated recoverable volumes of 3.3 million to 10.3 million barrels of oil equivalent.
1. Discovery details
The discovery was made about 190 kilometers northwest of Bergen. The well was drilled as a sidetrack during production-well drilling, targeting a low-cost exploration outcome; the Askeladden rig drilled the well, formally named 34/10-D-4 BH. The license partners are Equinor, Petoro and OMV.
