Equinor raises Snøhvit Future cost estimate to NOK 26.5 billion
EQNR•Equinor raised the Snøhvit Future cost estimate to NOK 26.5 billion in 2026 value. The schedule is unchanged, with onshore compression planned to start in 2029 and Hammerfest LNG electrification targeted for 2030.
1. Higher project costs
The higher estimate reflects added complexity at an operating plant, operational disruptions, harsh weather and challenging rock conditions in the power-cable tunnel. The project is about 60% complete.
2. Schedule and emissions
Onshore compression is planned to start in 2029, while electrification of Hammerfest LNG remains targeted for 2030. The electrification is expected to cut annual CO₂ emissions by 850,000 tonnes.
