ERM research shows investor confidence in ESG ratings data quality drops since 2023
MSCI•ERM research found investor confidence in ESG ratings data quality fell versus 2023, with 12 of 13 providers receiving lower scores. The top-rated provider fell to 3.5 from 4.2 on a five-point scale, while MSCI was the only provider whose perceived quality rose.
1. Investor confidence falls
A survey of 53 investment professionals representing $23.5 trillion in assets under management found lower confidence in ESG ratings data quality across most major providers. More than half of investors said they used ESG ratings for information material to investment performance, and MSCI ranked highest for familiarity, quality and usefulness.
