EU approves Kimberly-Clark's $40 billion Kenvue acquisition
KVUE•The European Commission approved Kimberly-Clark's $40 billion acquisition of Kenvue after Kimberly-Clark agreed to sell its feminine hygiene brands in the European Economic Area to address antitrust concerns.
1. EU approval with conditions
The European Commission approved Kimberly-Clark's $40 billion acquisition of Kenvue after Kimberly-Clark offered to sell all its tampon and other feminine hygiene brands in the European Economic Area. The Commission had raised concerns that the deal would reduce competition in the tampon market, particularly in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Slovakia.
2. Buyer for divested assets
Turkey-based distributor Dilek Gida Uretim agreed to buy the assets, including the Kotex, Lidie, Camelia and Record brands. The Commission also approved that transaction, saying Dilek had the financial resources and expertise to maintain and develop the business.
