EU expects US to keep abiding by trade deal despite Trump's labour tariffs

BRUSSELS, July 24 (Reuters) - The European Union expects the U.S. to keep abiding by a trade deal sealed last year and effective since July 1, even after the Trump administration imposed new tariffs over allegations of lax enforcement of forced labour bans, a spokesperson for the European Commission said on Friday.
The EU has already fulfilled its side of the deal, the spokesperson said. "We will continue engaging with the U.S. administration to ensure that the U.S. fully complies with its commitments," he said.
U.S. imposes new tariffs on 60 trading partners
The U.S. on Friday imposed new tariffs of 10% and 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, including the EU and China.
