EXC•ComEd crews restored electricity service to over 240,000 customers across northern Illinois, working continuously through the holiday weekend to complete storm-related repairs. The utility deployed additional crews from sister Exelon companies to expedite restoration and bolster system reliability after severe summer storms.
ComEd mobilized crews around the clock through the Fourth of July weekend to address outage reports from severe summer storms. Teams from sister Exelon utilities assisted in repairing downed lines and damaged transformers, achieving full service restoration for over 240,000 customers across northern Illinois.
The emergency deployment of extra field personnel and equipment repair operations will increase ComEd’s operational expenses in the current quarter. However, completing restorations quickly enhances system uptime metrics and strengthens Exelon’s position in upcoming regulatory cost recovery proceedings.
