EXOZEXOZ

eXoZymes has graduated from Shell’s GameChanger Accelerator after three years of collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies, gaining multimillion-dollar support and technical guidance to scale its cell-free biomanufacturing platform. The program funded technoeconomic analyses and optimized separations to de-risk AI-enhanced enzyme production.

1. Graduation from Shell GameChanger Accelerator

eXoZymes completed the Shell GameChanger Accelerator program in May 2026 after partnering with the National Laboratory of the Rockies since 2023. This graduation grants the company ongoing access to multimillion-dollar funding, lab resources and expert guidance to advance its cell-free enzyme platform.

2. Technical Advancements and Analyses

During the three-year collaboration, eXoZymes conducted comprehensive technoeconomic and life cycle analyses and evaluated multiple separations approaches. These efforts optimized product throughput and reduced projected production costs for its AI-enhanced enzymes.

3. Commercialization and Scale-Up Impact

The program’s support enabled eXoZymes to refine its cell-free biomanufacturing processes toward industrial-scale production. This de-risking work accelerates the company’s path to commercial markets for nutraceuticals, novel medicines and bio-based chemicals.

4. Accelerator Program Details

Shell’s GameChanger Accelerator, administered by the National Laboratory of the Rockies, provides $250,000 in nondilutive funding per participant along with technical mentoring. The initiative selects startups through over 60 energy technology incubators to advance transformative energy solutions.
