eXoZymes Pilot Run Yields 500g NCT at 99.6% Purity on 100L Scale

EXOZEXOZ

Cayman Chemical ran eXoZymes' cell-free biomanufacturing platform at 100-liter pilot scale, producing over 500 grams of pharma-grade N-trans-caffeoyltyramine at 99.6% purity and achieving 99% feedstock conversion. The successful scale-up under real-world conditions validates the technology's scalability and reduces execution risk for external application.

1. Pilot Scale Run by Cayman Chemical

An independent partner advanced eXoZymes’ tech transfer package from a one-liter setup to a 100-liter pilot run, handling reaction operations, downstream processing and analysis without direct oversight. The experiment encountered pH shifts and precipitation, yet maintained consistent performance, demonstrating the platform’s robustness under real-world manufacturing conditions.

2. Production Metrics and Purity Achieved

The pilot run yielded over 500 grams of N-trans-caffeoyltyramine at 99.6% purity, achieving a 99% conversion of feedstock to end product. These results match or exceed prior internal runs and highlight the efficiency and minimal purification requirements of the cell-free platform.

3. Commercial and De-risking Implications

This milestone de-risks exozymes’ scale-up by proving technology transferability and reliability beyond in-house labs, accelerating partner engagement for formulation development and product validation. With high-purity material now available, eXoZymes is inviting collaborators to evaluate performance and explore commercialization pathways.
