Extra Space Storage Adds Retail and Tech Executives with 850-Unit Chain, Ex-Matterport CEO to Board
Extra Space Storage elected Crystal Maggelet, CEO of an 850-unit c-store chain, and RJ Pittman, ex-Matterport CEO and former eBay product chief, at its May 14 meeting. The refreshed board now has nine independent directors of ten and seats Maggelet on the Governance Committee and Pittman on the Audit Committee.
1. New Director Elections
At its May 14 shareholder meeting, Extra Space Storage elected two new directors: Crystal Call Maggelet, CEO and Chair of FJ Management Inc. (operator of an 850-unit Maverik c-store chain, fuel divisions and TAB Bank, and founder of Crystal Inn) and RJ Pittman, former eBay Chief Product Officer and Matterport CEO and Chairman (2018–2025) with prior roles at Apple and Google.
2. Committee Assignments
Ms. Maggelet will join the Nominating, Governance & Corporate Responsibility Committee while Mr. Pittman will serve on the Audit Committee, aligning their expertise with key oversight functions.
3. Board Composition and Refreshment
The board now comprises nine independent directors of ten, with five members joining over the past five years; Spencer Kirk transitions to a special advisor role and Diane Olmstead was acknowledged and thanked for her dedicated service.
