Exxon, Chevron cancel executive trips to UAE's ADIPEC
CVX•Exxon and Chevron cancelled plans for executives to travel to ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi next week, citing security concerns, two sources said.
1. Executives cancel travel
Exxon CEO Darren Woods and Chevron upstream president Clay Neff had been due to attend the conference, the sources said. Exxon and Chevron declined to comment.
2. Conference participation
ADIPEC organiser DMG said more than 120 U.S. companies would exhibit, the second-largest country representation after China, and attendees were expected from more than 170 countries. The conference programme still listed executives from BP and Equinor.
3. Regional security concerns
The cancellations come as fears of fresh U.S. attacks on Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran have gripped oil markets. The U.S. State Department last week ordered some diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia, which has faced near-daily attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis this month.
