Exxon Mobil says unit restart ongoing at Illinois refinery after power outage, floodwater issue
XOM•Refinery restart underway after outage and flooding issue
Exxon Mobil's 275,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Joliet, Illinois, was in the process of restarting after a power outage and floodwater issue caused by heavy rain.
“On Thursday morning, September 17, heavy rains caused a catch basin to overflow,” the company said in a statement on Friday. “The overflow was due to the intensity of the rain and was not associated with the power outage or restart of the facility.”
