ExxonMobil Awards FEED Contract to SBM Offshore for Longtail FPSO Handling 1.2 Bscf/d Gas

XOMXOM

ExxonMobil Guyana awarded FEED contracts to SBM Offshore for a Longtail FPSO to process 1.2 bscf/d of gas and 250,000 bpd of condensate with 2 million barrels of storage at 1,750m depth. Government approval triggers ExxonMobil’s final investment decision and funds release, with senior loans covering construction before FPSO transfer.

1. FEED Contracts Award and Scope

ExxonMobil Guyana has engaged SBM Offshore to conduct front end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the Longtail floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, initiating the release of funds and designating a Fast4Ward hull for development.

2. FPSO Technical Specifications

The Longtail FPSO is engineered to handle up to 1.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, produce approximately 250,000 barrels of condensate per day, and provide around two million barrels of condensate storage capacity in 1,750 metres of water.

3. Financing and Investment Decision

Final investment decision by ExxonMobil will follow governmental consent for the development plan, triggering funds release, while senior loans are planned to finance construction costs and will be settled upon FPSO transfer upon project completion.

4. Operations and Local Content Strategy

SBM Offshore will operate the FPSO through a joint operations and maintenance model with ExxonMobil, leveraging its Fast4Ward programme and regional experience, and will integrate local fabrication and Guyanese engineers into project delivery and operations.
