ExxonMobil Holdings Corporation is developing a “carbon superhighway” along the US Gulf Coast to move captured CO2 at scale through an integrated transport network.
The system is designed to connect multiple industrial emitters with multiple endpoints, including permanent storage sites and CO2 customers.
ExxonMobil aims to improve flexibility versus point-to-point CCS projects, with capacity intended to expand as new capture projects and storage sites are added.
The company said the network will be monitored around the clock as CO2 is routed to storage, enhanced oil recovery, or industrial use.
