QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil loaded the inaugural 174,000-cubic-metre LNG cargo from the $10bn Golden Pass project at Sabine Pass, marking Train 1's export stage. The 70/30 joint venture expects to ramp up to 18 million tonnes per annum as Trains 2 and 3 come online through 2027.

1. Joint Venture Milestone

QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil completed loading the first LNG cargo aboard the Al-Qaiyyah carrier, marking the debut export from Train 1 at the Sabine Pass Golden Pass facility. The vessel’s 174,000-cubic-metre capacity underscores the joint venture’s entry into US Gulf Coast LNG markets.

2. Project Structure and Capacity

Golden Pass represents a $10 billion investment with QatarEnergy holding 70% and ExxonMobil 30%. The terminal’s Train 1 has begun output, while Trains 2 and 3, each independent liquefaction units, are scheduled to start operations in late 2026 and 2027 respectively.

3. Expected Output and Market Reach

Once fully operational, Golden Pass will produce approximately 18 million tonnes per annum of LNG. Exportes from this US Gulf Coast hub are poised to supply both European and Asian buyers seeking reliable volumes amid sustained global demand.
