The technology uses programmable MicroLED pixels as ultra-high-speed, low-power optical transceivers to eliminate copper wiring and reduce energy consumption per bit.

Fabric.AI has placed a $15 million purchase order with Kopin to jointly develop the Neural I/o optical interconnect chipset. Under the agreement, Kopin will hold an exclusive manufacturing role and owns 19.9% of Fabric.AI, aligning incentives for future scale.

The Neural I/o design repurposes MicroLED pixels as bi-directional optical transceivers capable of ultra-high-bandwidth GPU-to-GPU data transfer while consuming a fraction of the power of copper wiring, eliminating expensive lasers and reducing cooling requirements in AI data centers.
