Fed Chairman Warsh says he won't be involved in proceedings on Governor Cook
TLT•Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh said he does not expect to be involved in a White House investigation into Governor Lisa Cook’s alleged mortgage application misstatements. President Donald Trump has convened a three-person committee to investigate Cook and hold a hearing on any evidence.
1. Investigation into Cook
Warsh said he "to my knowledge" won’t be involved in the White House investigation into Cook’s alleged mortgage application misstatements, which are at the center of Trump’s effort to remove her from her job. Trump has convened a three-person committee, headed by his top economic advisor, to investigate Cook and hold a hearing on any evidence.
2. Cook’s legal challenge
Trump first tried to fire Cook more than a year ago, and she sued to keep her job. The case went to the Supreme Court, which ruled this past summer that a president cannot fire a central banker "at will" but must show cause.
