FedEx to Return $800 Million in Tariff Refunds to Customers Starting August
FDX•FedEx has received $800 million in tariff refunds and will begin remitting those funds to customers starting in August as part of phase 1. Future phases 2 and 3 of the CAPE program (launching June 29 and late July) will expand the scope of eligible tariff reimbursements.

FedEx has quantified its tariff refunds at $800 million, funds that were collected under duties imposed since 2018 and are now earmarked for repayment to its shipping customers.
2. August Launch of Phase 1 Refund Disbursements
The company will begin distributing these phase 1 refunds to customers in August, positioning itself as a transparent pass-through for duties unlawfully collected under the International Emergency Powers Act of 1977.
3. Industry-wide Refund Efforts by Competitors
Peers such as DHL and UPS have also initiated refund processes, with UPS expecting up to $5 billion in total refunds and DHL already reconciling customer payments.
4. Upcoming CAPE Program Phase 2 and 3 Expansion
Phase 2 of the CAPE program launches on June 29 and phase 3 is scheduled by late July, broadening eligibility to additional tariff categories and potentially increasing refund volumes.
