Fermi America Taps TSK to Engineer Three Siemens Gas Turbines for Project Matador
FRMI•Fermi America has engaged TSK to provide engineering and project management for three Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines in the second phase of its Project Matador in Texas. TSK will handle permitting support, site mobilization and Siemens contract engineering to accelerate timelines and lower execution risk.
1. Project Matador Overview
Project Matador is Fermi America’s flagship behind-the-meter power campus in Texas designed to supply electricity directly to hyperscale AI and advanced computing facilities. The ultimate plan calls for up to 17 GW of capacity from natural gas combined-cycle generation, nuclear, grid electricity, solar and battery storage.
2. TSK's Role and Expertise
Under the contract, Spain’s largest power-focused EPC contractor TSK will deliver early works engineering, project management, permitting support and site mobilization services. TSK will also oversee the Siemens contract engineering scope to ensure alignment with Fermi’s development schedule.
3. Siemens Gas Turbines Deployment
The three Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines will anchor the second phase of Project Matador, providing dispatchable generation capacity as longer-term infrastructure components are built. These turbines form the backbone of Fermi’s plan to meet surging AI-driven electricity demand.
4. Strategic Impact
By engaging TSK, Fermi America aims to shorten development timelines and reduce execution risk on its Texas power campus. This partnership accelerates permitting and engineering coordination, keeping Project Matador on track for future power generation milestones.
