Fermi Engages Primoris for Balance of Plant on Six SGT-800 Turbines in Amarillo Texas
FRMI•Fermi America has contracted Primoris Services Corporation to engineer and construct the balance of plant for six Siemens SGT-800 gas turbines at its Project Matador campus in Amarillo, Texas. This agreement covers engineering, procurement, and construction scope for the simple cycle phase under Fermi’s 2.0 execution strategy.
1. Agreement Highlights
Fermi has formalized a contract with Primoris Services Corporation to deliver the engineering, procurement, and construction for the balance of plant supporting six Siemens SGT-800 gas turbines. The scope includes foundations, underground utilities, equipment tie-ins and infrastructure needed for the simple cycle phase of the combined-cycle generating facility.
2. Construction Progress
Primoris has already mobilized crews, completed bathtub excavations for all six turbine islands and staged critical balance of plant materials on site. These early works lay the groundwork for expedited engineering and construction activities under the new agreement.
3. Strategic Objectives
This milestone aligns with Fermi’s 2.0 execution strategy to partner with proven contractors, compress project timelines and de-risk delivery. By locking in Primoris for this critical scope, Fermi aims to convert its power buildout ambition into operational infrastructure.
4. Next Steps
Following the agreement, engineering teams will finalize detailed designs while procurement and construction crews prepare to advance underground utilities and structural works. Successful completion of phase one will power the Project Matador hyperscale computing campus and validate Fermi’s private grid model.
