Ferrari CEO hails Tesla Roadster redesign as the bold innovation the industry needs
TSLA•Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna praised Tesla’s Roadster presentation, giving it 10 out of 10 for technology and presentation. Tesla says production of the sports car, equipped with SpaceX-derived thrusters, will start in 2028.
1. Vigna praises Roadster
Vigna said Tesla’s Roadster presentation showed there was room for daring innovation in the mature auto industry. Tesla unveiled the car last week with stunts including airborne manoeuvres; Elon Musk said production would start in 2028.
2. Ferrari’s electric effort
Ferrari is seeking to win over sceptics after its shares fell in May when it revealed the Luce, its first fully electric vehicle. Developed with former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his LoveFrom studio, the car benefited from outside input, Vigna said.
3. Innovation and risk
Vigna praised Tesla’s launch with 10 out of 10 for technology and 10 out of 10 for presentation. He said risk-taking and outside perspectives had helped Ferrari develop the Luce, and that the Roadster showed innovation was still possible in the auto industry.
