Ferrari files four times as many patents for electric Luce as for Purosangue
RACE•Ferrari filed four times as many patents for its electric Luce as for the Purosangue. The Luce, Ferrari’s first fully electric vehicle and first five-seater, delivers 1,050 metric horsepower from four electric motors.
1. Luce patent filings
Ferrari filed four times as many patents for the Luce as for the Purosangue under its open innovation development strategy. The Luce’s battery cells, developed with SK On, have a specific energy of 305 Wh/kg, and redesigned tabs enable current delivery above nominal power. Ferrari said in-house battery design and production provide flexibility to incorporate future advances in cell technology.
2. New driving system
The Luce features a newly patented Torque Shift Engagement system, offering five selectable levels of engine braking and power through steering-wheel paddles.
