Ferrari unveils automated flight-control technology for Hypersail yacht
RACE•Ferrari unveiled automated flight-control technology for its 100-foot Hypersail ocean-going sailboat on Oct. 16, 2026. Development has generated more than 20 patents, and the project has entered its final construction phase.
1. Automated foil control
The Flight Control system adapts sports-car control technology to automatically adjust the yacht’s foils using sensor data, helping maintain stability as wind and sea conditions change. A keel-integrated foil with a movable flap provides a third support point during foiling.
2. Construction advances
Hull painting is complete as the project moves toward its next operational stage. The hull uses multilayer carbon fiber, while carbon-titanium sandwich components reinforce areas exposed to extreme loads.
