First Guaranty Bancshares returned to profit in Q2, posting net income of $3.4 million versus a $7.3 million loss a year earlier.
Diluted EPS turned positive to $0.17 from a loss of $0.61 in the prior-year quarter.
Provision for credit losses fell to $2.6 million from $16.6 million, while net interest margin edged up 3 basis points to 2.37%.
Balance sheet and branch sale update
Total assets slipped to $3.9 billion, while loans fell 14.7% to $1.8 billion and deposits decreased 4.8% to $3.5 billion versus year-end 2025.
The Texas branch sale to Armstrong Bank is expected to include about $227 million of deposits and $93 million of loans, with closing targeted for July 31, 2026.
