First Russian diesel from Putin-Trump deal heading for US, data shows
USO•A tanker carrying 40,000 metric tons of Russian diesel is bound for New York and is expected to arrive on November 7. It would be the first Russian petroleum product imported by the US since the 2022 ban.
1. Tanker bound for New York
The Malta-flagged tanker Agioi Fanendes loaded 40,000 metric tons of ultra-low sulphur diesel at Russia’s Baltic port of Primorsk on October 22 and is expected to arrive in the United States on November 7. The buyer and seller were not immediately known.
2. Planned Russian shipments
President Donald Trump said on October 9 that Russia would immediately export 300,000 metric tons, or 2.25 million barrels, to the US and global markets, followed by 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tons “immediately thereafter.” A Kremlin spokesperson confirmed that a first ship under the deal had departed but did not specify its destination. Russia’s deputy prime minister said the country could increase diesel exports to its usual levels of 3 million to 3.5 million tons per month by year-end.
