XLV•FirstMark Capital’s analysis pegs the care navigation market at more than $10 billion and says Medicare’s 2024 reimbursement codes could unlock demand for non-clinical navigation services. It identifies time-based billing tied to human labor as a constraint on monetizing clinical AI.
FirstMark Capital’s analysis describes “care navigation 2.0” as a potential core orchestration layer for U.S. healthcare and estimates the market at more than $10 billion. It cites low engagement, labor intensity and weak outcomes measurement in earlier models.
The analysis frames Medicare’s 2024 reimbursement codes as a major demand unlock for non-clinical navigation services, especially for seniors. It says payment models remain the main constraint on patient-facing clinical AI: billing is time-based and tied to human labor. Medicare accounts for 21% of U.S. health spending, while 30%-45% of care is under value-based contracts.
