On January 9, Fiserv unveiled Unknown Shopper, a new in-store analytics capability that enriches Clover payment data with demographic and behavioral insights. Built on a base of 45 billion annual card-present transactions, the solution enables merchants in retail, restaurant and fuel sectors to create dynamic customer segments without loyalty programs. Early pilot results show a 25% improvement in campaign ROI and a 40% reduction in media spend waste. Fiserv will demonstrate the offering at NRF 2026 (Booth 5451), targeting an initial roll-out to its top 200 enterprise merchants and 5,000 small-business Clover outlets by mid–year.

Fiserv’s January 8 announcement of an AI partnership with Microsoft aims to embed generative intelligence across its platforms and workforce. The company will deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot to 30,000 employees and expand use of the Azure-based Foundry AI platform, which has processed over 100 billion tokens at Fiserv to date. Additionally, GitHub Copilot is already in use by more than 8,000 Fiserv engineers, improving code delivery times by 20%. Management expects productivity gains of 10%–15% and new revenue streams from AI-powered solutions in risk management, fraud detection and personalized engagement by the end of 2026.
