Fluor has secured a multi-year engineering, procurement and construction contract for Centrus Energy’s multi-billion-dollar uranium enrichment expansion in Ohio. The project aims to boost low-enriched uranium capacity and clear a substantial backlog to meet growing reactor demand.

1. Partnership Details

Fluor has been appointed lead engineering, procurement and construction contractor under a multi-year agreement with Centrus Energy’s American Centrifuge Operating subsidiary. The scope includes detailed engineering design, supply chain management and construction oversight at the Piketon, Ohio enrichment facility.

2. Project Scope and Objectives

The multi-billion-dollar expansion is designed to significantly increase low-enriched uranium production capacity. It addresses a substantial LEU backlog and responds to rising demand from existing nuclear reactors across the U.S.

3. Strategic Implications

This contract strengthens Fluor’s footprint in the nuclear energy sector and leverages its $16.3 billion 2024 revenue base to execute large-scale projects. Successful delivery could unlock further reactor-related contracts and support medium-term growth prospects.
