FocalTherics Partners with MellingMedical to Supply Focal One HIFU to 500,000 Veterans
FOCL•FocalTherics has partnered with MellingMedical to offer its Focal One Robotic HIFU prostate cancer therapy across VA and DoD healthcare systems. The incision-free, radiation-free treatment will be available via MellingMedical’s VA Federal Supply Schedule to nearly 500,000 veterans, of whom prostate cancer represents roughly 30% of new cancer cases.
1. Partnership Agreement
FocalTherics signed an agreement with MellingMedical, an SBA-verified service-disabled veteran-owned small business, to make the Focal One Robotic HIFU platform accessible across all VA and Department of Defense healthcare facilities via MellingMedical’s Federal Supply Schedule. The collaboration enables federal healthcare providers to purchase the incision-free, radiation-free therapy directly, streamlining acquisition and deployment within government systems.
2. Veteran Prostate Cancer Care
Approximately 500,000 veterans currently receive prostate cancer treatment or care within VA and DoD healthcare settings, where the disease is diagnosed at twice the rate of the general population and represents roughly 30% of new male cancer cases. The 2022 Cleland-Dole Act has driven increased focus on comprehensive prostate cancer solutions for veterans, underpinning federal initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
3. Technology Benefits and Market Implications
Focal One Robotic HIFU combines real-time imaging, treatment planning, and robotic precision to deliver targeted focal therapy aimed at preserving urinary and sexual function. By adding this non-invasive treatment option to federal healthcare formulary, FocalTherics gains a potential new revenue stream, though actual adoption will depend on procurement cycles, budgeting and policy factors within VA and DoD systems.
