Ford Energy and EDF Power Solutions signed a five-year framework enabling up to 4 GWh of DC Block battery storage systems annually, totaling 20 GWh, with deliveries from 2028. Ford will produce a compact Bronco SUV in Valencia, Spain from 2028 as part of its seven-model European rollout by 2029.

1. Five-Year BESS Framework Agreement

Ford Energy and EDF Power Solutions North America signed a five-year framework enabling EDF to procure up to 4 GWh of DC Block battery energy storage systems annually, totaling 20 GWh. Deliveries of the 5.45 MWh containerized systems, featuring 512 Ah lithium iron phosphate cells and integrated liquid-cooled thermal management, are scheduled to start in 2028.

2. Europe Expansion via Spain Bronco Production

Ford will assemble a compact Bronco SUV at its Valencia plant starting in 2028 as part of a broader plan to introduce seven new vehicles in Europe by end-2029. The expansion covers five passenger models—including an electric hatch, small electric SUV and two multi-energy crossovers—and two Ford Pro commercial vehicles: the Ranger Super Duty pickup and Transit City electric van.
