Ford F-150 supplier disruption to impact third-quarter sales, CEO says
F•Ford CEO Jim Farley said a supplier issue affecting F-150 output has been resolved but will impact third-quarter wholesale numbers. He said Ford is fully recovered from the effects of last year’s Novelis factory fires.
1. Supplier issue resolved
Production of Ford’s F-150 was halted last week at a Detroit-area factory because of a supply problem, and Ford’s Kansas City F-150 plant was also affected. Farley said Wednesday that the unnamed supplier issue was fixed and Ford was “back up and running,” but that it was impacting third-quarter wholesale numbers.
2. Truck sales and recovery
Farley said Ford is “fully recovered” from the effects of two factory fires late last year at aluminum supplier Novelis, which disrupted production and crimped Ford’s truck output for much of the year. The recent supplier issue was unrelated to the aluminum disruption. Ford’s F-Series truck sales fell 11% year over year through August.
