F•Production of Ford F-150 trucks was halted for nearly a week at its Dearborn, Michigan, plant because of a supply problem. Ford also canceled some shifts at its Kansas City plant, while its Kentucky plant increased truck production.
1. Plant production halted
All production crews at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant were canceled from Thursday through Tuesday, September 29, a memo said. A person familiar with the matter said the outage was caused by a supply problem unrelated to the aluminum shortage that previously disrupted Ford production.
2. Other plant changes
Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant canceled some shifts this week because of the same issue, while its Kentucky Truck Plant increased truck production. Ford vehicle sales were down about 10% year over year through August, and F-Series sales fell 11%.
