Ford Shares Up 40% as Automaker Preps $51K-$80K Bronco RTR Model

Ford shares have risen over 40% in the past year yet remain undervalued relative to peers. The automaker also plans to introduce the 2027 Bronco RTR—positioned between the $51,475 Heritage Edition and $80,000 Raptor—and is investing billions in Michigan plants following tariff-driven production incentives.

1. Ford’s Shares Rally 40% Year-Over-Year, Valuation Remains Attractive

Over the past 12 months, Ford’s stock has climbed more than 40%, outperforming the broader automotive sector by nearly 15 percentage points. This surge reflects strength in North American truck and SUV sales, where Ford’s F-Series and Bronco lines posted unit volume increases of 8% and 12%, respectively. Despite this momentum, consensus estimates from seven major Wall Street firms peg Ford’s forward price-to-earnings ratio at just 6.5x, below the industry average of 8.2x. Analysts attribute the discount to conservative outlooks on global semiconductor constraints and ongoing electrification investments, which are expected to total $50 billion over the next five years.

2. CEO Highlights Critical Role of North American Trade Accord

During a recent investor presentation, Ford CEO Jim Farley emphasized that a modernized free trade framework with Mexico and Canada is “critical” to achieving cost efficiencies in powertrain production and assembly. Ford sources key components—such as aluminum suspension parts and high-voltage battery modules—from cross-border suppliers that account for an estimated 18% of the company’s total material costs. Farley warned that prolonged uncertainty over regional content rules could increase per-unit costs by as much as $500, potentially eroding operating margins projected at 7% for fiscal 2026.

3. Bronco RTR Expansion Bolsters SUV Portfolio

Ford announced the launch of the 2027 Bronco RTR, the eighth variant in its off-road lineup, positioned between the Heritage Edition and the high-performance Raptor. The RTR features bespoke suspension tuning, reinforced frame rails, and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 dynamic tuning package. While official pricing remains under wraps, Ford indicates the model will slot above the $51,475 Heritage Edition and below the roughly $80,000 Raptor. Management expects the RTR to capture 10% of total Bronco sales, which totaled 125,000 units in calendar 2025, and to drive incremental margin contribution of approximately $1,200 per vehicle sold.
