Foresight Group fund acquires Blackhillock synchronous condenser from BlackRock’s GIP

Foresight Group completed the acquisition of the Blackhillock Synchronous Condenser from funds managed by Global Infrastructure Partners, part of BlackRock.
The asset sits near the Blackhillock transmission substation in northeast Scotland, a constrained node in the UK electricity network.
Operational since July 2025, it provides about 2 GVA of short-circuit level to support voltage recovery and grid resilience.
The deal adds a rare grid-stability asset in a high-priority region, complementing Foresight’s existing grid-balancing investments.
