Freddie Mac releases August 2026 monthly volume summary report
FMCC•Freddie Mac’s total mortgage portfolio rose $4.41 billion to $3.71 trillion in August, while its guarantee portfolio expanded $6.58 billion to $3.59 trillion. Single-family and multifamily delinquency rates increased to 0.6% and 0.64%, respectively.

Freddie Mac’s total mortgage portfolio rose $4.41 billion in August to $3.71 trillion, an annualized growth rate of 1.4%. Purchases or issuances totaled $38.26 billion and liquidations were $33.84 billion. Its guarantee portfolio expanded $6.58 billion to $3.59 trillion, an annualized growth rate of 2.2%.
2. Investments and delinquencies
The mortgage-related investments portfolio fell about $1.28 billion to $138.45 billion, with purchases of $32.41 billion and sales of $32.66 billion. The single-family delinquency rate edged up to 0.6% from 0.59%, while the multifamily rate rose to 0.64% from 0.6%.
