Freedom Asset Management says 10-year Treasury yields near 5.2% offer rare 30-year lock-in opportunity
TLT•Freedom Asset Management said 10-year U.S. Treasury yields near 5.2% offer a rare long-term lock-in opportunity, a level it described as rarely available over roughly the past 30 years.
1. Yields and bond markets
In a Sept. 28 commentary, Freedom Asset Management flagged pressure on bond funds and income strategies from rising U.S. Treasury yields. It cited competition for capital between the U.S. government and hyperscalers funding data center borrowing, as well as leveraged hedge fund positioning against the government and the Federal Reserve.
2. Long-term yield opportunity
The firm highlighted an annual yield near 5.2% for lending to the U.S. government for 10 years, describing it as effectively zero default risk and a rarely available level over roughly the past 30 years.
