Freshpet Founder to Advisory Role in October 2026; Nicki Baty Promoted President
FRPT•Freshpet President and Co-Founder Scott Morris will shift from operating duties to an advisory role on October 20, 2026, remaining advisor for 18 months as part of its 20th anniversary succession plan. Nicki Baty advances to President & COO and Thembi Machaba to Chief Administrative Officer overseeing HR, sustainability, and operations.
1. Founder Transition to Advisory Role
Scott Morris, President & Co-Founder, will transition to an advisory role on October 20, 2026, marking Freshpet’s 20th anniversary. He will remain available as an advisor for 18 months, with his innovation responsibilities shifting to a new Chief Innovation Officer position.
2. Nicki Baty Elevated to President & COO
Nicki Baty, currently Chief Operating Officer, will assume the title of President & COO in October 2026 and will oversee the company’s commercial operations and supply chain, reporting directly to CEO Billy Cyr.
3. Thembi Machaba's Expanded Responsibilities
Thembi Machaba has been promoted to Chief Administrative Officer in addition to her existing Chief Human Resources Officer role. Her expanded portfolio now includes sustainability initiatives, community relations, property management, corporate security, and key management processes.
4. Company Milestones and Operations
Freshpet has grown into a company with over $1 billion in annual sales, three manufacturing kitchens, and approximately 1,300 employees worldwide.
