From cashmere to faux fur, Target's holiday push centers on affordable luxury
TGT•Target announced a holiday strategy focused on affordability, including cashmere sweaters starting at $45 and faux fur throws for $30. It plans 8,000 new holiday items, early Black Friday deals from November 5 to 7 and an AI shopping chat feature.
1. Affordable holiday offerings
Target said its holiday strategy will emphasize affordability, with “luxe for less” items such as cashmere sweaters priced as low as $45 and faux fur throws for $30. NielsenIQ researchers found earlier this year that consumers still want luxury items but are being choosier as prices rise.
2. New items and shopping tools
The retailer plans to introduce 8,000 new items for the holidays, more than half exclusive to Target. It will add 3,000 items to its “fun101” assortment of toys, tech, gadgets and fandom merchandise, a “must-win” category, Chief Merchandising Officer Cara Sylvester said. Target will also launch “Ask Target,” an AI chat feature to help shoppers find items.
3. Holiday promotions
Early Black Friday deals will run November 5 to 7. Target said it will feature a “deal of the day” each day from November 1 through December 24.
