GLMD•Galmed and Barcode Nanotech launch cardiac-targeted Aramchol work
Galmed entered a collaboration with Barcode Nanotech to develop a cardiac-targeted lipid nanoparticle formulation of its SCD1 inhibitor Aramchol.
The program aims to redirect Aramchol biodistribution from liver hepatocytes to heart muscle, positioning it for cardiac fibrosis and other heart diseases.
The work uses in vivo screening of hundreds of nanoparticle candidates with AI-enabled analysis to identify formulations with improved cardiac targeting.
The collaboration also targets modified LNPs to selectively engage cardiac cell types, supporting Aramchol-based programs and future candidates.
