Garmin has introduced its Catalyst R1 racing radar, featuring in-cockpit HUD indicator lights and an IP67-rated sensor to alert drivers of approaching vehicles. The system, complete with mounting hardware, will be available on June 12 with a $799.99 suggested retail price.
The Catalyst R1 racing radar integrates a rear-facing IP67-rated sensor with in-cockpit indicator lights positioned within the driver’s line of sight to warn of vehicles approaching from behind. The rugged system includes all necessary mounting hardware and withstands dust, water, heat, and vibration typical of racetrack conditions.
The radar will be sold on Garmin.com beginning June 12, carrying a suggested retail price of $799.99. Early adopters in the motorsports community can secure the device directly from Garmin’s online store.
By entering the high-performance driving segment, Garmin aims to leverage its radar expertise to capture a niche motorsports market and potentially boost its automotive accessories revenue. The first-of-its-kind product could pressure competitors to develop similar performance-focused tracking solutions.
