Garrett Motion showcased a new oil-free centrifugal compressor portfolio at China Refrigeration Expo 2026, covering cooling capacities from 7 to 500 tons (25 to 1,750 kWc). The lineup includes a public debut of a large-capacity 1,250 kWc unit optimized for high-performance data-center and industrial cooling systems.

The compressors integrate high-speed turbomachinery, oil-free foil bearings and model-based control algorithms to outperform traditional scroll and screw designs. They deliver more than 10% real-world energy savings, support ultra-low-GWP refrigerants and reduce maintenance and total cost of ownership.

Rapid growth in China’s data center, battery energy storage system and commercial refrigeration sectors is driving demand for high-efficiency, eco-responsible thermal solutions. Garrett’s retrofit-ready design suits rooftop, unitary and modular chiller applications, positioning the company to expand its market share.

Garrett also previewed an oil-free cooling compressor for electric trucks and buses that is 50% smaller and 30% lighter than conventional units. Production is slated to launch with Cling in 2027, targeting efficient, low-vibration thermal management in mobility applications.
