General Mills Relaunches La Tiara Nationwide, Creates 100+ Jobs as Q3 Revenues Fall
General Mills is reviving its La Tiara taco shells and seasoning nationally for the first time, investing in its Gladstone, Missouri facility to create over 100 jobs and launching three new flavors with Walmart exclusivity starting April. Meanwhile, Q3 revenues and earnings are projected to decline due to increased promotions, cost pressures and strategic investments.
1. La Tiara Brand Return
General Mills has reintroduced La Tiara, the thin, crispy corn taco shell and seasoning brand beloved in Kansas City, bringing it to a national audience for the first time since acquiring it in May 2025.
2. Facility Investment and Job Creation
The relaunch involved reopening the Gladstone, Missouri facility, which has already generated over 100 new jobs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to regional economic growth and local manufacturing.
3. Product Offering and Distribution
La Tiara will be available in both yellow and white stone-ground masa shells, plus its original seasoning and three new varieties—Chorizo, Tinga, and Reduced Sodium—exclusively at Walmart starting in April.
4. Q3 Financial Outlook
General Mills anticipates a decline in third-quarter revenues and earnings driven by heavier promotional activity, sustained cost pressures and strategic investments in brand innovation and capacity expansion.
