Genuine Parts unveils leadership for automotive, industrial units ahead of 2027 split
GPC•Leadership named for planned automotive and industrial separation
Sept. 9 - Auto parts distributor Genuine Parts on Wednesday unveiled the leadership team and board structure for its automotive and industrial businesses as it advances plans to separate them into two independent publicly traded companies.
Here are some details:
- Following the separation, the Automotive business will retain the Genuine Parts Company (GPC) name, while the Industrial business will operate as Motion.
- Court Carruthers, a current GPC board member, has been appointed CEO-elect of GPC, effective immediately, and will assume the role upon completion of the separation in the first quarter of 2027.
- Will Stengel, currently GPC's chairman and CEO, will become chairman and CEO of Motion.
- Howard Yu, who most recently served as the chief financial officer of Ball Corp, will become CFO of Motion.
- Genuine Parts in February said it will split into two companies on the view that its auto and industrial units can be worth more apart.
