Georgia Power completes 49.5-MW Moody battery storage facility paired with solar in Georgia

Georgia Power is nearing completion of other storage projects totaling 715 MW in Bibb, Cherokee and Floyd counties under its 2023 IRP update.
Regulators have also cleared nine additional battery facilities totaling more than 3,000 MW, expanding the company’s planned storage buildout.
Georgia Power also has approval for two solar-plus-storage projects totaling 350 MW in Laurens and Dougherty counties.
Moody battery storage facility completed near Valdosta
Southern Company unit Georgia Power completed the Moody battery facility near Valdosta, Georgia, pairing storage with adjacent solar generation.
The site adds 49.5 MW of battery capacity, designed to discharge over four hours to support peak demand.
